Frequently Asked Questions
What counts as a "simulation hour"?
A simulation hour is one wall-clock hour of GPU compute time. A typical SPE-9 run uses 0.001 hours. A 500K-cell field simulation uses about 0.07 hours. Hours are billed per second on pay-per-run top-ups.
Can I try Permeon before committing to a plan?
Yes. The API Starter plan includes a 14-day free trial with 10 simulation hours at no charge. No credit card required to start the trial.
What file formats does Permeon accept?
Permeon reads the standard Eclipse .DATA format (same as OPM Flow, tNavigator, and others). GRDECL grid files and include files are supported.
What is the Direct License option?
A Direct License is a binary software license for deploying Permeon on your own GPU hardware — on-premise servers, private cloud instances, or HPC clusters. No simulation data leaves your environment. Contact us for pricing based on GPU count and term.
Do you offer academic or research discounts?
Yes. University research groups and publicly-funded research projects qualify for a 60% discount on API plans. Contact us with your institutional email.
Is there a limit on model size?
API Starter supports models up to 500K cells. API Pro supports unlimited cell count within GPU memory limits (up to ~10M cells on H100). Direct License is limited only by your hardware.
What GPU hardware is used for API plans?
Starter uses NVIDIA A100 80GB SXM4. Pro uses NVIDIA H100 80GB SXM5 with priority queue access. You can specify the GPU tier when submitting a job.
Can I run ensemble / Monte Carlo jobs?
Yes. The API supports batch job submission. Pro and Enterprise plans include a dedicated batch queue for ensemble history matching workflows with up to 256 simultaneous jobs.
